Our story

Italian design.
Japanese mindset.
Cypriot mats.

Kano Store Cyprus is where you can pick up a BJJ gi, hold it, try it on, and walk out with it the same evening — instead of ordering blind and waiting a week.

A shop on the mats, not in a warehouse

We are the Cyprus home of Kano Kimonos, the Brazilian jiu jitsu brand that has been supplying gis, rashguards and grappling shorts across Europe from kanokimonos.com. This store serves Cyprus, and Cyprus only.

The difference is simple: we are not a warehouse. Our shop sits inside International Jiu Jitsu School in Paphos, a working academy with people rolling on the mats a few metres away. You can feel the weave of a kimono before you commit to it, check whether an A2 or an A2L actually fits your frame, and ask someone who trains what holds up after six months of hard sessions.

Everything is also available online with delivery anywhere in Cyprus, and free delivery on orders over €100. Order online and collect at the school if that suits you better.

What we mean by Italian design, Japanese mindset

The cut, the colourways and the artwork are Italian. The discipline behind them is Japanese: Jigoro Kano, whose name the brand carries, built judo around the idea that you refine one thing until it is right, then you keep refining it.

In practice that means pearl weave jackets and ripstop trousers that survive a full competition season, prints impregnated into the fabric rather than stuck on top of it, flat seams that do not chafe under a rashguard, and IBJJF-approved competition kimonos for anyone who is going to be stepping onto a scale before a match.

Kit gets judged where it is used: six rounds in, on the mats.

Everyone deserves good kit at a fair price

Jiu jitsu is expensive enough — mat fees, seminars, competition entries, physio. Your gi should not be the thing that breaks the budget, and it should not fall apart after a season either. We price so that a white belt starting out and a competitor cutting to weight can both walk out with something they will still be using in two years.
